Davidstow Parish Council have sent a letter of thanks to all those officers concerned in the prevention of the unlicensed music event /rave taking place on Davidstow moor. Many homes in the parish were awakened over the Easter Weekend to cars full of people trying to gain access to the moor and many of you were out through the night blocking your entrances and keeping an eye on your neighbours. Community spirit once again prevailed in Davidstow.
There were hundreds and hundreds of cars filled with people from far and wide across the Country, some travelling hundreds of miles to get here, all attempting to access the moor. The swift action and determination of the police in successfully seizing sound equipment and stages prior to arrival on site and preventing cars and people from accessing the moor prevented what could have been the biggest gathering we have seen for a number of years.
We are no strangers to such events in this area of Bodmin Moor and we are very aware had this event gone ahead there would have been considerable damage, major disruption and anxiety for residents, farmers, and local businesses and damaging and harmful consequences for livestock, wildlife, and the environment.
Hopefully the success of the police operation will send a message to those who arrange these events to think twice before choosing Davidstow in future.
